Joseph Leporati

I build software people use every day: utility apps for iPhone and Mac, games, and web products. Behind them is sixteen years of running production systems.

Software that holds up under real money, real time clocks and real crowds.

About

I build focused software products and the reliable systems behind them.

Most of my career has been at Plondo Network, where since 2012 I’ve designed and run commission and payout platforms for 500K+ users at 99.9% uptime, a real-time gameshow backend for 20K+ concurrent players, and payroll and time & attendance for 10K+ clients.

Alongside that I ship my own products: native apps for Apple platforms, iPhone games under Venable Dove Games, and web products that run on Cloudflare’s edge. About 48% of my 8,492 commits are co-authored with Claude (4,059 of them), delivered through specs, adversarial review and a human gate before production.

Command, Glowdeck and Strand are independent apps. Philips Hue, LIFX, Nanoleaf and Govee are trademarks of their owners; no affiliation is implied.

Venable Dove Games

venabledove.games

A one-person iOS studio, opened June 29, 2026: seven titles in twenty-three days, five of them live on the App Store. Every game is a pure, tested Swift engine under a thin SwiftUI and SpriteKit shell, with seeded randomness, a fixed 60 Hz timestep, procedural art and audio synthesized at runtime. No ads during play, no banners, and Remove Ads from day one.

Each game is on the App Store; the titles link there.

Web products

  • WebiPhoneCloudflare

    In The Book Club

A social reading app, blank repo to App Store submission in a month.

Shelves, goals, reviews, clubs, buddy reads, a yearly Wrapped and encrypted direct messages, at parity across app, web and API, running entirely on Cloudflare. 727 commits in 30 days.

Web live · Coming to the App Store

  • WebCloudflare Workers

    BetterReads

A reading app with a web front end and its own API.

The web app and an API on Cloudflare Workers with a D1 database.

  • TicketingMulti-tenant

    Event ticketing platform

Seat maps, mobile wallet passes, gate scanning and resale for a professional hockey club.

Entry codes are short-lived Ed25519 signatures that admit exactly once. The platform is multi-tenant, so onboarding an additional club is a configuration change. 39 architecture decision records in the first five days.

Direct-sales platforms · Since 2012

Commission platforms that pay real money

Problem
A production outage pinned response times at 11 seconds on the back office that tracks sales, genealogy trees and payouts.
What I did
Traced the root cause and ended the outage, led the performance work that followed, and put a priority-queued Lambda and SQS layer in front of the webhooks. In 2026 I rebuilt the back office as a serverless, white-label, multi-tenant platform.
Result
1.9× faster at p90, dashboard abandons from 449 every six hours to zero, and 1,000+ commits in the 30-day rebuild.

Civic AI · Since August 2026

Citation-first AI for city government

Problem
Cities need agendas, staff reports and council packets drafted from their own records, and every claim has to be traceable.
What I did
Lead engineer and top contributor, working alongside the founder. Rebuilt the infrastructure in a new AWS account with Terraform and gated deploys, built the staff admin portal, and fixed ingestion and hybrid retrieval with a citation chain on every result.
Result
A pilot customer’s full punch list shipped to production (18 Tier 1 and 11 Tier 2 items), with 1,401 backend tests at handoff.

Health and wellness · Since January 2026

Camera-based wellness readings

Problem
Read heart rate, breathing and stress from a phone camera, as wellness readings rather than medical ones, without sending images anywhere.
What I did
Wrote about 8,500 lines of research across fifty-plus papers first, then built the capture in Swift, Kotlin and React Native and an edge engine for the signal processing, now packaged as an SDK.
Result
0.7 ms of CPU and 6 to 15 KB of data per scan, no image ever leaves the phone, and 19 golden traces gate CI.

How I work

Running AI agents like an engineering org

Problem
Ship far more than one person normally can without lowering the bar.
What I did
Run delivery as an agent organization: specs, written ledgers, parallel work in git worktrees, adversarial review, and every agent claim checked against ground truth.
Result
4,059 co-authored commits, and one Android port took 80 Kotlin files, 52 tests and 28 commits in one day. Only a human merges to production.
